Sequestered end products and enzyme regulation: the case of ornithine decarboxylase
Article Abstract:
Ornithine decarboxylase (ODC) is a dominant controlling factor of polyamine biosynthesis. Mechanisms involved in their contribution to cell growth and the fitness of organisms are being discovered. Studies on eucaryotic organisms show no ODC feedback inhibition by an allosteric mechanism. Variation of polyamine pools does not show much significance on growth. Evidence suggest that stability of polyamine pools is due to their being bound to cell constituents. The existing control mechanisms that have appeared in most organisms control the amount of the ODC protein.

Evidence for safety of Neurospora species for academic and commercial uses
Article Abstract:
Extensive research on Neurospora species since 1941 affirm that the organism probably poses no danger to humans and should be exempt from restrictive regulations. It only grows on dead vegetation, is not a human pathogen, and is even used as food in many countries.

Tests of a cellular model for constant branch distribution in the filamentous fungus Neurospora crassa
Article Abstract:
Branching in filamentous fungi appears to occur when the synthesis and transport of tip-growth vesicles exceeds the deposition of the vesicles at the apex. Branching is independent of temperature and tip growth rate.
