Sir2 blocks extreme life-span extension
Article Abstract:
The role of Sir2, a conserved deacetylase that modulates life span in yeast, worms and flies and stress response in mammals in regulating chronological life span in yeast is addressed. The results demonstrates the effect of Sir2 on chronological life span were opposite to replicative life span and suggested the relevant activities of Sir2-like deacetylases were complex in higher eukaryotes.

The enigmatic role of Sir2 in aging
Article Abstract:
The role of Sir2, a histone deacetylase in chronological aging in yeast by measuring the long-term survival of non-dividing cells was examined. The cell survival in the nonmitotic state decreases by Sir2 activity in contrast to measurement of aging for mitotic cells under conditions similar to calorie restriction.

Sirtuins in aging and age-related disease
Article Abstract:
The roles of Sir2 and other Sirtuins in diverse eukaryotic species are examined. Sirtuin functions in mammals and their connection to aging and age-related diseases including cancer, diabetes and neurogenerative disorders are examined.
