SirT2 is a histone deacetylase with preference for histone H4 Lys 16 during mitosis
Article Abstract:
SirT2, the mammalian cytoplasmic protein and its yeast counterpart Hst2 have strong preference for histone H4K16Ac in their deacytelation activity in vitro and in vivo. There is decrease in H4K16Ac during the mammalian cell cycle with SirT2 localization on chromatin and enzymatic conversion of H4K16Ac to its deacylated form is pivotal to the formation of condensed chromatin.

SirT3 is a nuclear NAD+-dependent histone deacetylase that translocates to the mitochondria upon cellular stress
Article Abstract:
The cellular stress like, DNA damage due to chemicals and radiation and over expression of protein SirT3 causes transport of SirT3 from nucleus to the mitochondria. The SirT3 protein that is present in two forms namely, the full length protein and the processed polypeptide lacking 142 amino acids at its N terminus cause deacetylization.

A novel histone deacetylase pathway regulates mitosis by modulating Aurora B kinase activity
Article Abstract:
A report that HDAC3 is a critical, transcription-independent regulator of mitosis is presented. Phosphorylation of H2S10 by Aurora B leads to dissociation of HP1 proteins from methylated H3K9 residues on mitotic heterochromatin.
