Spatial autocorrelation analysis of individual multiallele and multilocus genetic structure

Article Abstract:

A very general multivariate method based on genetic distance methods has been developed to fill the need for an explicitly multivariate approach to autocorrelation analysis. Spatial structure is rarely consistent across loci or sites and is weak when found, although theoretically that would not be the case. New genetic markers based on PCR are now being used and numbers of alleles are vastly greater. A new approach applicable to multiallelic codominant, multilocus arrays is introduced to treat genetic data as a whole strengthening spatial signal and cutting down the stochastic noise. Spatial autocorrelation analysis of individual multilocus and multiallele genetic structure has been carried out using Caladenia tentaculata, an orchid.

Genetic effects of rainforest fragmentation in an early successional tree (Elaeocarpus grandis)

Article Abstract:

An investigation is carried out of the medium term (over 100 years) effects of rainforest fragmentation on a long-lived, early successional tree species within a habitat matrix that includes various types of fragmented and undisturbed sites. A trend for increased inbreeding levels were shown in rainforest fragments and in particular those within the extensively cleared Big Scrub.

Pollen-mediated gene flow and differential male reproductive success in a tropical pioneer tree, Cecropia obtusifolia Bertol. (Moraceae): a paternity analysis

Article Abstract:

Likelihood-based paternity analysis has been used to study pollen-affected gene flow within/among populations of Cecropia obtusifolia, a wind-pollinated, dioecious pioneer tree that grows in the tropics. Allozyme data from leaf samples of adult trees and seeds from identified mothers in southern Mexico were used. Uneven male reproductive success was seen.
