Stem cells and cancer: the Polycomb connection
Article Abstract:
The extrinsic and intrinsic circuitry controlling stem cell and their connections to cancer is studied. The proteins from the Polycomb group (PcG) are epigenetic chromatin modifiers in cancer development and the PcG proteins and PcG complex compositions are highly regulated in a dynamic manner allowing for gene, tissue and differentiation stage-specific function.

Ink4a and Arf differentially affect cell proliferation and neural stem cell self-renewal in Bmi1-deficient mice
Article Abstract:
An investigation on whether Ink4a or Arf is more critical for relaying Bmi1 function in lymphoid cells, neural progenitors, and neural stem cell is conducted using a genetic approach. The results revealed that Arf is a general target of Bmi1, however particularly in neural stem cells, derepression of Ink4a contributes to Bmi1(super -/-) phenotypes.

Epigenetics and cancer
Article Abstract:
The significance of epigenetic mechanisms for gene regulation in cancer with cancer related mechanisms acting at all epilayers are studied. The epigenetic gene regulation in both normal and neoplastic development provide high quality tools such as methyl-specific histone antibodies and new chromatin exploration methodologies.
