Strong allelic selection in the course of brother x sister matings in mice
Article Abstract:
Strong allelic selection in the course of brother x sister matings in mice was studied using a set of 36 recombinant congenic mouse strains from crosses between B10.D2 and DBA/2. A strong allelic disadvantage for the DBA/2 homozygote was found in countervailing selection. Coadaptation between alleles making up the genome of the inbred strains of the laboratory mouse result in strong counterselection of the alleles derived from one inbred strain when a small amount is introduced to the genetic background of another inbred strain.

Mandible shape analysis in a testicular feminization (Tfm) strain of mice
Article Abstract:
Mice carrying the x-linked gene for testicular feminization was studied for the role of androgens on the sexual dimorphism of mandible shape. Results show that sexual dimorphism observed between +Tal plus Ta females and +Ta/Y males almost disappeared between Tfm+/+Ta females and Tfm+/Y males. These findings suggest that androgens influence mandible shape sexual dimorphism and its development in males and females.
