The SAR92 clade: An abundant coastal clade of culturable marine bacteria possessing proteorhodopsin
Article Abstract:
The cultured members of the marine SAR92 clade of Gammaproteobacteria possessing a proteorhodopsin (PR) gene are reported. The research data has indicated that the SAR92 clade has reached up to 10% of the total bacterial population in surface waters close to the Oregon coast and they do not grow at higher rates nor do they have higher growth yields when incubated under light.

Formation of tellurium nanocrystals during anaerobic growth of bacteria that use Te oxyanions as respiratory electron acceptors
Article Abstract:
Two anaerobes originally isolated for their abilities to respire selenium oxyanions are shown to achieve growth by reduction of either tellurite [Te(IV)] or tellurate [(Te(VI)] to tellurium [Te(0)]. The use of microorganisms for generating Te nanomaterials is an alternative method for bench-scale process.

Abundance, activity, and community structure of pelagic methane-oxidizing bacteria in temperature lakes
Article Abstract:
The abundance and activity of methane-oxidizing bacteria (MOB) in the water column are investigated in three lakes with different contents of nutrients and humic substances. Results reveal that MOB might account for a substantial fraction of water column bacterial biomass and carbon transformations.
