The microevolution of mouse salivary androgen-binding protein (ABP) paralleled subspeciation of Mus musculus
Article Abstract:
The DNA coding sequences and the corresponding amino acid sequences for three common alleles of the Alpha subunit gene in Mus musculus subspecies were analyzed using symmetric and asymmetric polymerase chain reactions with subsequent Sanger dideoxy sequencing method. Three other unique sequences found in M. caroli, M. spretus and M. spicilegus were included in the analysis. The results demonstrated that the sequences have base substitution sites which are responsible for the high degree of variability in the amino acids thus, rendering the sequences unique for each of the species and subspecies.

Reduced female gene flow in the European flat oyster Ostrea edulis
Article Abstract:
The study revealed a good correlation between genetic and geographic distances supporting isolation-by-distance as a model corresponding to the effective dispersal mode. Additionally, a 10-fold quantitative difference was observed in Fst between the mitochondrial and the nuclear genomes, which could be due to an unbalanced sex ratio or sex-biased differential reproductive success between males and females (or both).

Chromosome inheritance in triploid Pacific oyster Crassostrea gigas Thunberg
Article Abstract:
Reproduction and chromosome inheritance in triploid Pacific oyster (Crassostrea gigas Thunberg) were studied in diploid female * triploid male (DT) and reciprocal (TD) crosses. The study reveals that triploids are not completely sterile and cannot provide complete containment of cultured populations.
