Tuatara (sphenodon) genomics: BAC library construction, sequence survey, and applications to the DMRT gene family
Article Abstract:
A large-insert bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC) library from a male tuatara was constructed to provide a genomic resource for an understanding of genome revolution in reptiles. A deep coverage contig of 300 kb was generated that supports the deep coverage and utility of the library for exploring tuatara genomics.

Elevated basal slippage mutation rates among the canidae
Article Abstract:
The comparison of the repetitive content of the dog genome with that of humans and other mammals to identify the phylogenetic origins is presented. Findings reveal that episodic fluctuations in the basal meiotic slippage mutation rate might contribute to differences in the inherent evolvability of some taxa.

Patterns of variation in MHC class II beta loci of the little greenbul (Andropadus virens) with comments on MHC evolution in birds
Article Abstract:
Major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class II beta loci were isolated from the little greenbul (Andropadus virens), an African songbird. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that the Anvi-DAB1 locus was highly divergent when compared with other passerine or A. virens genomic or transcribed MHC sequences.
