NCR Comten Introduces New Communications Access Method

Article Abstract:

NCR Comten has unveiled several new communications products. The Comten Communications Access Method 3 (CAM3), designed for the Comten 3600 processor, is the first access method to reside in an SNA-compatible front-end processor. CAM3 monitors and controls lines, cluster controllers, terminals, and printers. Comten's Automatic Message Switch (AMS) Release 1.0 supports recovery, retrieval, restart, and journaling functions. Using Comten AMS, inexperienced users can reach any application on any host in the network with no knowledge of the network configuration. NCR Comten has also introduced four new models in its 3650 series of communications processors. Each model features up to 1M byte of memory, twice the capacity of earlier models. Prices start at $44,000.

NCR Introduces Co-op Ad Program

Article Abstract:

NCR Corp. has announced a new co-op advertising program to help dealers promote the sales of its line of personal computer products. The program offers dealers funding at five per cent of their purchases from NCR for each of two six-month intervals. Thus, a dealer whose monthly purchases amount to $20,000 will receive a credit of five per cent of $120,000 or $6,000. NCR is planning to complement the co-op program with advertising in local and national print and televised media.
