NCR's 7760-1100 Single Pocket Proof Encoder is designed to handle all field encoding, endorsing, and audit control requirements. It provides competitive advantages in operator comfort, power consumption, throughput rates, flexibility, and media life. The NCR 7740-1701 MICR Encoder is a low-cost, table-top unit. It can be used to generate checks, provide batch totals, and can automatically encode the amount field on a check. The IDPS-6000 is NCR's newest on-line item processing system. It is a single station, low-cost, microprocessor controlled document processing system. It allows for both menu-driven and salesperson-installable applications. The IDPS-6000 performs balancing, encoding, endorsing, microfilming, listing, and automatic document sorting.

Lane Interfinancial's Four-Bank Center Cuts Annual Item Processing Costs $500,000

W.N. Lane Interfinancial Inc.'s centralization efforts have trimmed item processing and associative costs by more than $500,000 per year. The Chicago-based holding company consolidates its item processing, bookkeeping, and check clearing functions for four member banks in its new Central Operations Center. The center handles between 150,000 and 210,000 checks each day. It uses a NCR 8455 computer system running NCR's VIPS (variable item processing system) software. As a result of centralization, personnel requirements have been reduced by more than thirty per cent.

New Word Processing Software Supports the NCR Tower

Crystal Writer is a new-generation word processing package designed for UNIX 68000-based multi-user systems. It is available for the NCR Tower as well as other supermicrocomputers. A product of Syntactics Corporation, it is object-oriented. That is, users specify the type of document and the system automatically adjusts the margins, vertical spacing, justification, tabbing, document length and printing style.
