To generate a good national standard of living, a modern economy appears to need about 40% of its population in the workforce. Australia has managed to do this for more than a century with the full-time equivalent participation rate averaging exactly 40% of the population from 1901 to 2000.

The impact of immigration on employment in Australia is studied using graph from the year 1900 to 2020. It is found that high net immigration has always resulted in full employment.
