Assessing and managing the university technology business incubator: an integrative framework
Article Abstract:
A new framework based on the three performance dimensions of the university technology business incubator (UTBI) proves to be effective in evaluating and directing UTBI as a guide in the development of new technology-based firms. It uses program sustainability and growth, survival and growth of tenant firm, and contribution to the mission of sponsoring university as basis in the creation of a proposed framework. In a study of four UTBI cases, the framework successfully applied its measurement indicators, in terms of performance outcome and competent management policies and practices, in evaluating the performance and managing of UTBI projects.

Mapping the university technology transfer process
Article Abstract:
The transfer of technology from one university to a private entity can occur in several ways. From 1983 to 1993, majority of technologies developed by the University of Minnesota were transferred to large firms either to enhance existing products or to expand existing product lines. The remaining technologies were transferred to small and venture capital companies, as well as to newly established firms owned by the inventors and university scientists. Majority of companies where technologies were transferred have some form of relationship with the university.
