Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien reshuffled his cabinet on Jan 25, 1996, increasing the number from 24 to 25, and adding two new federalists from Quebec. The new members are Stephane Dion and Pierre Pettigrew. Other cabinet ministers changed responsibilities.

Tory leadership hopeful sets candidacy

Canadian Member of Parliament Patrick Boyer has become the first Progressive Conservative Party member to declare his candidacy for the leadership of the party. Boyer is a bilingual lawyer, first elected to the House of Commons in 1984.
