Can standard operating procedures be motivating? Reconciling process variability issues and behavioral outcomes
Article Abstract:
The relationship between required Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) use and worker creativity, as mediated by worker intrinsic mediation, is discussed. It is suggested that the relationship between required SOP use and intrinsic motivation and creativity is moderated by availability of accurate process documentation and employee participation in developing of process documentation.
