Car parts spark a new free-trade debate

A coalition of consumers, farmers and insurance companies are lobbying the Australian government to end auto makers control of the auto parts market. The control of the parts market by auto makers has translated into vastly overinflated prices. The coalition is lobbying for the opening of the Australian auto parts market to foreign makers, which will have the result of boosting competition and lowering prices.
