Reprographics: Determining Your Phototypesetting Needs
Article Abstract:
A $15,000 minimum annual expenditure for typesetting, a need for faster, quality work, and security concerns are reasons for opting for in-house typesetting systems. A number of factors that need to be considered in determining costs are listed. In selecting equipment, the user must choose which features such as speed, number of fonts, or ease of use, are most important. Fixed- cost vendor contracts with discounts for preparing the material are a better choice in some instances. Charts comparing general and special features of models from five companies are presented.
