Daimler cuts Fokker financial support
Article Abstract:
Daimler-Benz AG announced on Jan 22, 1996, that it will discontinue funding the Dutch firm Fokker NV. Daimler owns a 39.8% interest in Fokker, and has been hit hard by Fokker's slump in sales. Daimler recorded around $4 billion in losses in 1995. Fokker won protection from creditors on Jan 23, 1996.

Immigration: commission urges cuts
Article Abstract:
The bipartisan Commission on Immigration Reform recommended on Jun 7, 1995, that legal immigration be cut from 830,000 to 550,000 per year. It also recommended decreasing the number of refugees and people admitted on work-related visas. Pres Clinton endorsed the findings.
