The implications of a Victorian Supreme Court decision regarding prominent receiver, David Lockwood, who lost the crucial court case, for receivers and creditors are discussed. Lockwood has become liable for all the debts of F&T industries as a receiver and his losing the court case has created a need for a legislation to protect the creditors as they have lost faith in the system.

David Lockwood, insolvency practitioner, has run in to $6 million debts by letting the F&T Industries to trade when he was the receiver of the firm in 2001. His creditors are holding a meeting to discuss his offer of part payment of 10 cents per dollar and the ways to make him pay the full debt.
