Pick 'n Pay of South Africa has purchased 80 Franklins and Fresco stores and the Franklins name in Australia. Foodland Associated has purchased 35 Franklins outlets in Queensland and northern New South Wales. The likely impact of these deals on Australian grocery retailing is considered.
