Europe's ad-spending picture gets darker
Article Abstract:
The slowdown in ad spending in the U.S. that started showing up in statistics in the second half of 2000, may be due to occur in Europe now. Forecasts by ACNielsen Media International point to this. Ad spending in Germany was down a bit already. Forecasts suggest that ad spending won't return to an increase until next year. Companies are being more careful about where they spend those dollars. Commercial television spot ad sales could suffer because they cost the most.

Agency hopes jail stripes sell pinstripes
Article Abstract:
M&C Saatchi of London created a print ad campaign for English shirtmaker Thomas Pink that should stand out from all the clothing advertising clutter slated for fall and winter. Luxury mens shirts, made from 170-thread-count-fabric, will be modeled by former gangsters. The global campaign will run in magazines, newspapers and on posters. Victim Support in the UK and others find the ads offensive, glorifying gangsters, who should not profit from their notoriety.
