Intel holders approve 2-for-1 split in stock
Article Abstract:
Intel Corp stockholders approve a 2-for-1 stock split. Shareholders of record May 6, 1993, will receive one additional share for each share they own, to be mailed Jun 6. The unsurprising move comes after a year in which the semiconductor firm's stock more than doubled in price. On May 6, 1993, Intel's stock traded at $101.25. In its most recent quarter, the company's net income was up almost three-fold, to $548 million, and revenue was up 63 percent. Intel's stock slid to 70 percent of its 1993 apex after a federal judge on Apr 16 voided a jury verdict that rival Advanced Micro Devices Inc did not have the right to make a clone of Intel's hugely popular 486 microprocessor using Intel-copyrighted software. AMD quickly began making a 486 clone. Intel's stock rebounded after investors decided that sales of Intel 486 remained strong and that AMD lacked the production capacity to make significant inroads into Intel's market share.

Intel's motion to halt chip sales denied
Article Abstract:
A federal judge denies a motion made by Intel Corp to stop Cyrix Corp from selling a microchip that Intel says violates a patent. The motion was made in Sep 1991. Intel then asked for a preliminary injunction to prevent Cyrix from selling the chip until 1993, when the case is scheduled for a trial. The battle between the two companies started in 1990. Cyrix originally sued Intel, charging Intel with antitrust violations and with conspiring to drive Cyrix out of business.
