Investment company (income) industry
Article Abstract:
The investment company industry has not offered investors a wealth of opportunity to earn revenue from their investments during most of the 1990s, especially in terms of higher-quality bond investments. The majority of closed-end bond funds fail to mature, as opposed to targeted individual bonds, and this makes recapturing asset values more difficult for existing investors than new ones. Should the economy decline during the second half of 1997, a drop in the yields of many funds should also be expected.

Investment Co. (foreign) industry
Article Abstract:
Investors regard the fall in Asian stocks as signs of flaws in the economic system, such as bad bank loans. The Japanese government should lower taxes to encourage more spending. European stocks may already have corrected for the euro, and small prices rises may be expected in late 1998 and in 1999. Mutual funds that focus on individual countries are evaluated.
