Article Abstract:
The Conference Board in New York surveyed 5,000 households on the economic and social issues facing Americans. Twenty issues were found to merit grave importance. The cost of medical care worried 89.7% of Americans. Drug abuse, the federal budget deficit and crime followed with ratings of 83.3%, 80.7% and 80%, respectively. Smoking ranked last in importance.
