Australia's big accounting firms are building up their legal services, putting pressure on the country's law firms. Accounting firms are the dominant legal providers in several European countries. While that is not yet the case in Australia, a trend in that direction is developing. Arthur Andersen's Andersen Legal unit has grown to comprise nearly 100 lawyer members. The threat to law firms is the accounting firms' ability to offer international legal services.
