Managing globally competent people
Article Abstract:
US multinational firms are urged to adopt individual and systemic changes in their human resource management practices to acquire a global outlook. According to a survey, US transnational firms' human resources systems are not as global as their business operations in terms of transnational scope, transnational representation and transnational process. A set of skills required of individual managers to be globally competent is presented.

Managing the global workforce: challenges and strategies
Article Abstract:
Personnel management takes on much broader implications with the globalization of business enterprises. There are three challenges facing human resource managers of international business enterprises. These are workforce deployment, dissemination of knowledge and innovation, and identification and development of employee talents. Four innovative approaches in managing these challenges are discussed.

Various human resource practices had an economic benefit for the operation of Russian subsidiary firms of multinational corporations. Employee development programs and teamwork were beneficial to subsidiary performance.
