Middle East peace talks
Article Abstract:
Little progress was made in the Arab-Israeli peace talks held April 27-30, 1992. Arab delegates were critical of a plan proposed by the Israelis to give some municipal power in the territories to Palestinians. Israel will boycott scheduled regional talks because outside Palestinians will be attending.

Israel suspends Jerusalem land seizures amid mounting international criticism
Article Abstract:
Attempts to instill peace in Israel were almost derailed when Israel announced its intention to seize land in East Jerusalem that is owned by Arabs. The United Nations condemned the action as did the Israeli Knesset. Peace talks are expected to resume. Actions on other issues are described.

Peace negotiations between representatives of Israel the Arab countries stalled during the seventh round of the talks Nov 9-19, 1992, in Washington, DC. Progress was hindered by fighting in Lebanon and uncertainty about the foreign policies of President-elect Bill Clinton.
