Newspaper industry
Article Abstract:
Newspaper publishing in the US has had to adapt to a new economic order in the 1990's, as many advertisers have restructured their operations and ad-linage sales have not fully recovered since 1991. New media, such as the Internet, has also eroded ad space in newspapers, but cash flow is helping the industry retain a good bottom line and earnings, and eased newsprint costs and other factors are helping, also. These stocks are expected to perform with the market in the next twelve months, and there are new bargains in this industry.

Article Abstract:
Progress has been steady for the newspaper ad market in 1999 which is in better condition at the end of the year than at the beginning for both retail and classified ads. Newspapers have also responded well to competing media such as the Internet, pricing is better, as is circulation, and the cost of newsprint has also lowered during the year. These shares are expected to be strong in the year 2000 and investors should seek quality issues.
