The US textile industry is still feeling the effects of the Asian economic crisis in 1999 with lower sales, earnings, and stock prices due to the competitive market place. American producers have since implemented strategies to counter this and the improved Asian market has also helped demand despite a glut in denim. Investors may find several bargains with these stocks, as they are at depressed price levels, but there is risk in the first half of the year 2000 for these shares.

Financial conditions for the US textile industry in the year 2001 are the worst in the industry's history. Working capital management and debt reduction have become top priorities over profitability as a result. These stocks are not for conservative investors, but the risk-tolerant only.
