Optus heeds the call to be leaner and more profitable

Optus's response to a year of revenue shortfalls may be cost cutting and some new moves, including possible joint ventures, sale and leasebacks, structured finance deals, links to utilities, and a business data venture. Pay-TV subscriptions are down for Optus, and the company is still litigating with Telstra over access to the local telephony market. Optus is looking for new markets for its network.
