Fashion magazines are bulging with ads
Article Abstract:
A recent study has found that most women's fashion magazines have experienced a dramatic rise in the percentage of advertisements as competition between advertisers heats up. Advertisers, which have begun to purchase larger ads and multipage ads, sometimes are paying more than 20% compared with ad prices three years ago. The study reports that up to three-quarters of many women's fashion magazines are filled with advertisements, such as Vogue, which has filled 77% of its pages with advertisements.

Article Abstract:
A year in the life of U.S. consumer advertising proves memorable, and forgettable, and questionable. A rundown includes: Apple's "Think Different" campaign; Ford's sponsorship of Time magazine's environment series; Reader's Digest and pharmaceutical editorial/advertising content; liquor ads in the airline magazines; Miller Lite ad campaign by Fallon McElligott; MacManus Group vs. Gateway Computer in a legal dispute; Young & Rubicam went public; and the Wells Rich Greene acquisition by Omnicom.
