RJR unit's suit claims store promotion by Philip Morris is unfair competition
Article Abstract:
The FTC had been, and may still be, investigating Philip Morris' Retail Masters program which may violate antitrust regulations. Now R.J. Reynolds has filed suit against Philip Morris for essentially the same reason for its Retail Leaders program, both programs aimed at getting the Philip Morris brands on display in retail stores by offering cash incentives to retailers. Retail display becomes more and more important as tobacco companies lose more advertising venues.
