Article Abstract:
The funds management industry may be headed for a large squeeze on margins because of new index and other funds that do not pay trailing commissions, according to financial planner Kevin Bailey. Usually, more than half the income from planning work by accountants comes from the trails rather than the fees. Trails are usually 0.5% and are paid forever. Over a decade, a top planner could earn $1 million by directing hundreds of millions to funds paying trails.
