Russians, Afghans clash on Tajik border
Article Abstract:
Several hundred people have been killed since Jun 17, 1993, in fighting between Tajik rebels and government and Russian troops. The rebels are seeking to overthrow the current Tajikistan government that has been in power since 1992. Most of the rebels are Muslims affiliated with Afghanistan.

Reno orders U.S. attorneys to resign
Article Abstract:
Attorney General Janet Reno, on Mar 23, 1993, asked all of the federal attorneys from the Bush Administration to resign. Republicans responded to Reno's announcement by claiming that her actions would hurt the Dept of Justice.

Tajikistan Pres Nabiyev resigned on Sep 7, 1992, after demonstrators and members of the militia seized him. Some observers believe that opposition leaders forced Nabiyev to resign under duress.
