Sector winners and losers from tax reform
Article Abstract:
A economic model generated by Econtech indicates that the forthcoming Australian tax reform will benefit the manufacturing, mining and finance industries. Tourism, hospitality and miscellaneous labor intensive sectors are expected to fare badly. The changes are likely to be the result of an efficient taxing system and an improved economy. The Australian dollar is expected to become stronger.

Article Abstract:
Issues concerning the situation of the Australian taxation system in the wake of the election campaign of 2001 are discussed. Particular attention is given to debates related to the commercial impact of taxation laws in Australia and to the tax reform goals.
