Senate approves gift ban
Article Abstract:
The Senate approved a measure on Jul 28, 1995, that would ban the acceptance of individual gifts worth more than $50. The new rule will take effect Jan 1, 1996, and apply only to the Senate. The regulations are designed to reduce the influence of lobbyists.

Senate backs AIDS entry curb
Article Abstract:
The Senate Feb 18, 1993, voted to keep a law banning the emigration of people with AIDS or testing positive for HIV. The vote was viewed as a rebuke to Pres Clinton because he had stated during his campaign that he would eliminate the law when elected.
