Single desk in danger
Article Abstract:
The Cole inquiry into the food-for-oil scandal will result in implementing single desk in near future and chief executive of Australian Wheat Board (AWB), Andrew Lindberg to lose his job. The Centre for International Economics (CIE) points out that greater competition would achieve cost savings of at least $5 a tonne in wheat. Some farmers are willing to adopt single desk where as well off farmers fear they have to shell out dollars from their pockets.

Article Abstract:
Investors started investing super funds in projects that used to be the job of government and it is causing a fall out among the industry funds involved. The CEOs of many companies feel that since governments are not interested in debt-funding infrastructure projects it would be the right time for industry funds to enter and make some profits that will benefit their members.
