Surveys report on Business Review Weekly 1000 (BRW 1000) reveals that the attrition rate of companies' listings on BRW 1000 has increased drastically. Analysis of each year of the BRW 1000 from 1988 to the current year is discussed and the statistical data of the economic performances of various sectors' has been presented.

BRW1000's 50% share in the total industry revenue demonstrates the clout it has in many of the divisions of industry in the Australian economy. However, many companies, like AMP and many life offices and superannuation funds were affected by horrendous losses on the stock markets.
