The core of operations management converges with many interfaces such as strategy and marketing, engineering, organisational behaviour, industrial engineering, information management, purchasing and logistics, economics and accounting. Businesses have been using operations management techniques successfully throughout the 1980's and new theories are being put into practice during the 1990's.
