Telecommunications: Clinton backs antiviolence TV chip

Clinton said he approved of the V-chip, a computer chip that enables parents to block out certain television programs, in a speech on Jul 10, 1995. He said he favors legislation to mandate V-chip installation into new television sets. He also supports funding of public television.

Congress backs fetal tissue research

The Senate voted to allow federally funded researchers to use tissue from aborted fetuses in medical research. The House approved a related conference committee bill by a vote of 260 to 148, but this is not enough to override an anticipated veto by Pres Bush.
