The success of Toshiba's laptop and notebook computers can be attributed to business strategy as well as to the market and technological strategies. In terms of business strategy, Toshiba devised a strategic vision that helped promote cohesive management and opportunistic marketing. With regards to technology strategy, the company's utilization of 'back to the future' approach proved useful in gaining worldwide acceptance through implementation of intuitive market research.

Japan Inc.'s Entry In Home Computers
Article Abstract:
Japan has not touched the home computer market in the United States. It will now begin introducing its new MSX machines to remedy the situation. The new products are expected to hit the market in time for the Christmas season, 1985. Sales of the MSX have been excellent in Japan and Europe. MSX computers incorporate standardization which could prove an attractive selling point in the United States. A photo of one in use is included.
