The impact of environmental management on firm performance
Article Abstract:
A theoretical model is used to relate strong environmental management to better perceive future financial performance. Empirical testing using financial event methodology and archival data shows significant positive returns for strong environmental management as indicated by environmental performance awards. The analysis also reveals significant negative returns for weak environmental management as shown by environmental crises. A cross-sectional analysis of the environmental award events indicates differences for first-time awards and between industries. First-time awardees exhibit greater increases in market valuation but smaller increases are found for firms in environmentally unsound industries.

A study of graphical and tabular displays and their interaction with environmental complexity
Article Abstract:
Computer sales personnel prefer to sell machines on the basis of graphics capabilities. It is suggested that the hypothetical superiority of graphics over tables and other data representation forms depends on the material being presented and on those to whom it is given. When compared, tabular presentations are more effective in environments of low complexity. Graphics are more effective in intermediate complexity environments. This rule does not apply uniformly to all situations, however.
