Major wins Britain's Conservative Party leadership vote; rewards allies in cabinet shuffle

The Conservative Party reelected Major on July 4, 1995, by a vote of 218 to 89. Former Secretary of Wales John Redwood had opposed Major for the leadership position. 'Euroskeptics' unhappy with Major's concessions to the European Union led the campaign against Major.

Albanian ex-Communists routed in national elections
Article Abstract:
The Albanian Democratic Party received about 62% of the vote in the Mar 1992 elections, while the Albanian Socialist Party, formerly the Communist Party, received 25%. The Democratic Party victory came at a time of severe economic hardship in Albania.
