U.N. Security Council votes Yugoslavia sanctions: trade ban, assets freeze included

The UN Security Council on May 30, 1992 voted to place international sanctions that included a trade ban and assets freeze on Yugoslavia in an attempt to end the civil war in Bosnia-Herzegovina. The resolution was cosponsored by the US, UK, France, Belgium, Hungary and Morocco.

Battles called worst in two years
Article Abstract:
Heavy fighting broke out in Bosnia Herzegovina on May 16-17, 1995 between Serbs and Muslims. There were also battles in the Posavina corridor and Croatia among Serbs and Croats. There is debate in the UN over a NATO proposal for air strikes in former Yugoslavia.

Serbs pull back heavy guns in Bosnia; Moslems, Croats press offensive
Article Abstract:
Serbian forces moved weapons from the Sarajevo area in compliance with a demand from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization to do so or suffer more air raids. Muslim and Croat forces continued to fight in an effort to gain land previously held by the Serbs.
