Universal Serial Bus is finally picking up some passengers
Article Abstract:
Universal Server Bus (USB) places an unlimited number of computer peripherals into a single connector. This new connection, devised by an industry group in 1997, streamlines the plug-in process. USB comprises two small tiny rectangular points and software that lets computer systems recognize connected devices. Apple's iMac, the majority of notebook computers and almost all desktop PCs sold since 1997 offer USB capability. The release of Windows 98, which is USB-friendly, has made the technology easy to install and operate. Other USB advantages include the elimination of separate power cords for most USB-based products, faster port speed and a higher bandwidth link that can handle Internet telephony. One drawback consists of a lack of compatibility between USB and older equipment.

What price housing? Valuing "voluntary transfers" of council housing
Article Abstract:
The voluntary transfer of council housing was introduced by the UK government in 1990 as an extension of the Right To Buy introduced in 1980. It allows local authorities to sell their property to private landlords or housing associations at a discount. The scheme is expected to become increasingly important. The study examines the sensitivity of valuations as regards certain to factors, such as inflation and rent levels. It concludes that the government should implement a safety net for housing association finance and publish information on key variables affecting valuations.
