The military forced Guatemalan Pres Serrano Elias out of office on Jun 1, 1993, and VP Gustavo Espina Salguero asserted his right to be president on Jun 2, 1993. A dispute arose over Espina's constitutional right to be president.

Alabama's governor convicted, ousted

Alabama Gov Hunt was convicted of transferring $200,000 from his nonprofit inaugural fund to his own bank accounts on Apr 22, 1993. Jim Folsom, Jr, was sworn in as governor on the same day. Hunt maintained his innocence.
