Article Abstract:

A US missile attack on a Sudanese pharmaceutical plant on Aug 20 1998 has led to protests from Sudan. Sudan has called on the United Nations (UN) to verify its claims that the plant was not used to make ingredients for chemical weapons. The UN has not taken up this offer, but other investigators have not found evidence to back US claims, and a number of specialists have argued that the plant was only used for pharmaceuticals. Sudan may be developing chemical weapons, but not at this site.
