The Labour Party made gains in the last two elections and narrowly missed ending the Tory majority in 1992, but party leader John Smith is not likely to become prime minister soon. An analysis of regional and demographic influences on voting patterns is given in terms of Labour Party expectations.

The British Labor Party is hopeful that Bill Clinton's victory in the US presidential election might reflect well on their chances in their next campaign. Generally though there is no correlation between US and British election results.
