Ulmer (Mokre Lazce, Czech Republic), supplier of components for engineering firms, expects a turnover of 100 mil Kc in 1999 and 68 mil Kc in 1998. The firm saw a turnover of 36 mil Kc in 1997 compared to 18 mil Kc in 1996. The firm, which is one of the chains of Ulmer (Austria), plans to set up branches in Prague and Brno, both in the Czech Republic. In the Czech Republic, Ulmer is also a representative of prestigious European firms. The company supplies aluminium profiles for machine assemblies, connecting material, drive elements, components for tyres, the distribution and treatment of air. The company's suplementary products line includes the instantaneous glues Loctite.

Hayes Lemmerz Autokola (HLA) (Ostrava, Czech Republic), car steel wheel manufacturer, plans to produce 4.5-5 mil wheels in 1999. In 1998 it made 3.7 mil wheels. In 1999 the firm plans to produce goods worth 1.2 bil Kc compared to 1.17 bil Kc in 1998. HLA has 520 employees currently compared to 650 employees in 1993. The volume of the firm's production was 330 mil Kc in 1993. HLA is a supplier of disks for the car company Skoda Auto (Mlada Boleslav, Czech Republic). Besides, it co-operates with the car companies Opel, Ford and Daewoo. The firm has been wholly owned by Hayes Wheels International (US) since 1998.
