A greener, or browner, Mexico?
Article Abstract:
The North-American Free-Trade Agreement has encouraged companies to set up operations in Mexico, especially in the northern border area. This has led to pressure on water supplies, and there is a serious problem of toxic waste. Mexico lacks an environmental culture, and the drop in value of the Mexican peso led to economic problems from 1995 that have meant that less attention has been paid to environmental issues. There has been an increase in non-governmental organizations as well as nw institutions and laws to tackle environmental issues since NAFTA was implemented.

Hidden jewels: bank branches
Article Abstract:
Rolf Hickmann of pH Group reports that the number of branches a bank has does directly effect profitability. However, banks are unlikely to stop reducing branches in England, where one bank for every 1,400 people is now seen as too expensive.
